2nd Annual TGCHOG Halloween "Fun Run"

The Texas Gulf Coast Hummer Owners Group had its 2nd Annual Halloween “Fun Run” October 9th-11th, 2009. It started out as one of those rainy weekend runs, we are so used to when we go off-roading. But despite the weather, everyone was excited about the weekend. 11 Hummers and 1 jeep (since we like everyone to have fun) took to the trails. Those who were able to head up early were able to partake in the night run. Anyone that loves to off road, would enjoy the experience of driving the trails at night. The obstacles appear more menacing at night due to the shadows created by the head lights.
The next morning we met and had the driver’s information meeting by the campfire, then off to the trails prepped by the rain. This made for some fun Hummer “slip and slide” trails. After lunch, it was back out to Helicopter Hill. Just one look at the photos from the trip and you can see just what the Hummers can really do in difficult terrain.
The kids are the main reason for the Halloween run. While most of the trucks went back out on the trails after lunch, those who stayed behind set up the campsite into a kid play area. From the jump house to the piñata, the kids returned to a great play area. It started out with the biggest silly string war Shiloh Ridge had ever seen. Of course, the adults got into it as well, somehow some pink hair spray ended up in with the silly string. Andy and his pink ears can attest to its existence. Then the old fashion apple bob tub came out. The kids all got the hang of it. After the piñata, the kids went trick or treating “Hummer Style”. All the vehicles made a circle formation around the outside of the camp. Linda got an A+ on her Hummer version of the one eye, one horn, flying purple people eater impression. I believe the best part though was watching Wyatt (age 5) drag a 10 lb. plastic pumpkin filled to the brim with candy across the field to me. He said it was “so heavy I cannot lift it up anymore”, laughing I asked him if he had enough which his response was “never enough candy”.
I would consider this run one of our most successful. The kids both young and old had a great time. We had no break downs and nothing but fun. Hope to see everyone next year.

One cold weekend in February, TGCHOG headed out to Shiloh Ridge for the first run of the year. The weather may have been cold but we still had a good group show up to do some mudding and hill climbing. With our able pit crew of Auggie and James we were able to get all trucks off the trails and home. The company and fun around the campfire at night is a thing to behold in person. The more people come out the more fun we can have showing others what the Hummer can do on the trails.
Thank you to all the ladies who planned this great get together. We raised a bunch of money for the club and hope to do it again sometime.
